Gemma

Gemma is much the driving force behind the garden.
She graduated from Harrow with a degree in workshop ceramics in 1996
Since then she has run a landscaping business, renovated the family home, raised a family and set up the Wye Valley Sculpture Garden.

“I have held a dream for more than 25 years that one day this would be a sculpture garden open to the public. I have spent more hours than I care to think about landscaping pond, paths, building walls, planting hedges, moving plants. And there is still more I plan to do. It feels fundamentally important to me that this is a place to celebrate plants, nature and art.”

Elsa and Adrian

Adrian and Elsa Wood, Gemma’s parents. They ran a fantastic guest house and field studies centre back in the 70s and 80s. Both botanists and ecologists they have also ran and environmental consultancy business.

These days when Elsa is not acting as one of the counties botanical recorders or writing books on Mycology she can be found weeding in the garden or baking and serving you homemade refreshments.

When Adrian in not on the tractor, gathering vast amounts of firewood or using one of his many handyman skills it takes to keep a place like this running, he can be found parking cars, also weeding and mowing the garden and growing fantastic Organic vegetables.
