  • We are so fortunate here to be nestled beautifully on the gentle slopes of the Lower Wye Valley.
It is therefore important to acknowledge that the whole garden is on a gradient.

IN THE SUMMER - the main part of the garden can be accessed relatively easily on the flat paths and level lawns.

IN THE WINTER some of the snowdrops can be viewed from these level paths but many of the snowdrop displays are at the top of the garden and in the Snowdrop wood which will require walking to as these areas are not really suitable for wheel chairs and the paths and lawns are most likely to be muddy and slippery in places at that time of the year.

Where there are areas of high foot fall, we will put down bark mulch but this is not to say that some areas wont get muddy. In the central part of the garden most of the pathways are on level gravel paths or level grass lawns

There are a number of seats around the garden and many wall to sit on around the pond.

If you have mobility issues or use a wheel chair and or a mobility scooter (well powered ones) and have decided that the garden will be suitable for you to visit then when you arrive please notify the parking attendant who can direct you towards a suitable parking place where you can gain the best access.

Unfortunately, the garden does not yet have a wheelchair friendly toilet due to space constraints in our studio.

We work constantly to improve paths so in time we hope that to be fully inclusive.

  • HEALTH AND SAFETY

Your safety in the garden is of our utmost importance- there are signs throughout the garden indicating areas where you are advised to be cautious.

There are several bodies of water that are not fenced off.

Pesky rabbits are known to dig holes around the place- we do our best to fill them in but please keep a eye out in case of uneven ground.

Please exercise caution in wet weather as areas can get slippery.

Regular risk assessments are carried out but ultimately you must be responsible for you care and conduct whilst visiting the garden.

  • We know that this will upset some of you however sadly we are NOT able to have dogs in the garden when we are exhibiting other peoples art work because our insurance will not cover it.

    Thank you for your understanding.

  • There are two toilets, please note that they do not accommodate wheel chairs.

  • Children are welcome to visit the garden.

We wish to make the garden fully inclusive however -

For their own safety, ensure that your children are with you at all times, that does not mean running ahead out of your sight.

SCULPTURES MUST NOT BE TOUCHED OR CLIMBED UPON. ANY DAMAGED WILL HAVE TO BE PAID FOR.

IN THE WINTER, HOT BRAZIERS WILL BE BURNING.

THE IS DEEP UNFENCED WATER IN THE GARDEN

Pushchairs - please see Accessibility and Disabled access.

  • Parking is free.
We have a carpark that parks 20 cars.

Open days can get very busy. We will have parking attendants directing you to a parking place.

Unfortunately we do not have space to accommodate large LWB vans.

Coaches by arrangement will be able to drop off further down the drive and visitors will have about 5 minutes to walk to the garden entrance. Coach with then need to turn around and then park off site in a nearby layby.

  • VEDDW HOUSE GARDENS has been made and designed over the last 33 years by garden photographer Charles Hawes, and by garden writer Anne Wareham, who wrote ‘The Bad Tempered Gardener’ and ‘Outwitting Squirrels’.

This garden with its bold structure has been voted one of 100 best British gardens again this year and one of the top 3 in Wales!

Veddw is made up of formal hedges, a reflective pool, an ornamental vegetable garden, a meadow all of which are framed by the Wye Valleys natural woodland with plenty of places to sit and contemplate.

WHY NOT MAKE A DAY OF IT?

Veddw House Gardens is just 15 minutes drive from us.

They are open to the public on specific days in the summer and also take large group bookings and coach parties.

Please see their website for details
