Washed Up

Material – mild steel, cement fondu, recycled slate, found river glass, upcycles glass
Price –nfs but commissions welcome

By dint of being human it is not possible to live without making an impact of some kind.

At present we treat the planet as resource.

However, it is possible to live far more sustainably than we do presently so the question really is, how do we go about that?
And when are we going to start asking ourselves what is enough?
To answer these questions we need to develop a better understanding of what our footprint looks like and this is only going to come about through awareness and education all of which can’t come soon enough.

This piece I feel is emblematic of this thinking, all the materials are sourced locally and recycled.
I have the metal frame fabricated locally.
The slate is the old slate from the roof of the house behind you.
Much of the glass are off cuts from local glass workers and glass collected the from the banks of the river Wye.
Again, illustrating that everything finds its way back into the environment.

My image for the future is not about going back in time, technology is going to play a large part in a new cleaner world but, we do all need to make behavioural changes.

Reduce, reuse, recycle is a good place start.

I recently did a Carbon footprint calculator online, gosh, it was shocking.
I think everyone should do one to really let it hit home.
