A creative mind like mine has many corners but it is the excitement of an idea, design and form then that gives me the greatest buzz.
Is that something that you recognise within yourself?
This piece is a clear representation of that moment of creation, the explosion or seed of an idea, and what radiates out from that.
That is not to say that all ideas are good.
The markings represent the endless range of possibilities that spark with that moment.
The pieces come from a Douglas Fir which is a pleasure to carve and has these wonderful natural rings when charred. The making of this piece was a challenge and reflects the gruelling work that so often follows the creative spark.
