I say to the children that we are living through history, and we have just lived through a notable milestone in history’s story as we have lived through this pandemic.
In all honesty, I had my eyes wide open for the potential of a pandemic. I thought that I had diversified enough to be resilient, little did I know.
And so……wow, what incredible places this last two years have taken us and the mix of emotions it has brought out.
Is it fair to say that it created space for re-evaluation to consider that what is really important, to question how hard we all work and the reasons for it.
What did we experience and see?
We saw people desperate to hug and be with their loved ones
We saw people seeking out all and any creative avenues.
We saw the importance of shopping locally and supporting businesses on your doorstep. They say that the longer a pound stays in your local economy the greater the value it has to you.
We are seeing that the divide between rich and poor has increased massively.
Here, I saw nature breathe in the most profound way.
In the first months of the first lockdown there was literally no one out in the woods disturbing nature. Birds and animals nested in places that normally would be too busy. It was quiet, no road noise, very little machinery noise. The air, the sky was crystal clear, it felt better to breath., there were no plane trails in the sky. Wildlife literally flourished and when wildlife flourishes, quite simply, so do we.
Have we learnt anything?
I totally understand that change does not happen quickly, but I pray that some of the things that this perspective revealed to us will stay and help change our behaviours towards something ultimately more sustaining and aligned with well-being.
How much do we actually need to work?
How much do we actually need?
How can we better distribute wealth?

The Snowdrop wood is to your right, we only open it at Snowdrop when we carry out regular checks on the health of the trees.
